Phlebotomy Certificate Program

Phlebotomy Certificate Program

Summary

Overview of the Phlebotomy Certificate program and the admissions process

Program Overview

The Phlebotomy Certificate program prepares students to obtain blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Course work includes proper specimen collection and handling, communication skills, and maintaining patient data. Graduates may qualify for employment in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, and other health care settings and may be eligible for national certification as phlebotomy technicians.

Application Process

Phlebotomy is a Limited Program. Applications will be accepted in the Bailey Student Services Building on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please refer to the Selective and Limited Programs webpage to see the dates for the next application period.

To prepare for this, you'll need to complete a general application to the College. You should also complete placement by taking the English portions of the EdReady placement test or bringing a college transcript showing previous college credit in English. You will need to attend an information session before meeting with an advisor. The schedule is posted on the Selective and Limited Programs webpage.

There are a limited number of seats available each semester, and an alternate list will be maintained for each semester once the available seats have been filled.

Financial Aid

Due to the short length of the program, the Phlebotomy Certificate is not eligible for financial aid.
