Where the CLEP exam can be taken and how to send CLEP and AP scores to A-B Tech
The CLEP (College Level Examination Program) is a series of examinations in 35 introductory college subjects that allow you to earn college credit for what you already know. CLEP exams make it possible for you to save time and money in your college career and to advance to higher level classes.
A-B Tech does not administer CLEP exams. The nearest testing centers are at Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University.
Academic credit at A-B Tech will be granted to enrolled students who receive scores of three or higher on the AP (Advanced Placement) tests offered by the College Board. CLEP credit is granted for scores of 50th percentile or higher. AP and CLEP credit accepted at other colleges/universities is not automatically transferred to A-B Tech but is reviewed when scores are received by our Records and Registration Office. The original letter to the student is not enough. For additional details, contact our Records and Registration Office at registrar@abtech.edu.
You can order AP and CLEP test score transcripts from collegeboard.org. Our school code is 5033. Remember, it can take a few weeks for scores to arrive at A-B Tech.
Please note that CLEP testing is separate from the Credit by Examination process offered directly at A-B Tech. For more information about Credit by Examination, please go to the Credit by Examination article.
