How to receive emergency text alerts for urgent campus situations
You can sign up for emergency text alerts from A-B Tech about inclement weather and any urgent situations on campus.
Instructions to sign up for these messages can be found at abtech.edu/emergency. This page also explains the different levels of alerts. Remember that standard text messaging rates will apply.
Employees and students will use the same workflow to opt-in for emergency alert messages.
To stop receiving text alerts, scroll down to step 4 listed in the Sign Up for Text Alerts in Self-Service article.
If you are receiving text alerts and have never attended A-B Tech, it's possible a student accidentally put your phone number into their account. In that case, contact our IT Department at (828) 398-7550 or helpdesk@abtech.edu. They can remove your number from our database.
If you signed up for text alerts but are not receiving them, you should first log in to Self Service to make sure your phone number is correct. If your phone number is correct, there may be a problem with the text messages being transmitted from A-B Tech through your phone carrier. The process of getting a text message through your phone carrier is complex; sometimes students don't receive the text alerts, and sometimes students receive multiple text alerts. Anytime you're concerned about the College being open, you should check our website, Facebook page, local media outlets, or call us at (828) 398-7900.
