How to get an A-B Tech library card
Library Card for Curriculum Students and Staff
A-B Tech issues a college ID card to students and staff that also serves as a library card. If you don't have a student ID yet, your first step is to go the Bailey Student Services Center (#5 on our campus map) to get one.
Next, bring your new A-B Tech ID card to the Don C. Locke Library (#6 on our campus map) so we can activate your card in the library's database.
With your library-activated photo ID card, you can check out materials and use the research computers. You'll have to present your card each time you wish to check out any library materials. If you want to check out library materials during semester breaks, we'll need to see proof of paid registration.
Library Card for Distance Students
Students taking only online courses that live outside the Buncombe/Madison counties region and students taking curriculum courses only at an off-site location such as Enka, Madison, or A-B Tech South can use Distance and Off Site Student Library Services.
Library Card for Continuing Education Students and Residents of Buncombe and Madison Counties
A community library card is available for Continuing Education students, GED students, and residents of Buncombe and Madison Counties who are 18 years of age or older. You'll need to fill out an application at the Locke Library circulation desk and present a driver’s license or other acceptable form of photo ID. Borrowing privileges with a community library card are different from curriculum student privileges. For more details, contact the library circulation desk at (828) 398-7301.
You can find more information about our library on our website, abtech.edu. Scroll over "Student Resources" at the top of the page, click "Library", then select "About The Library" on the left.
