Public Transportation

Public Transportation

Summary:

Information on the public transportation that's available to and from A-B Tech

Shuttle Service

We have two 15-passenger vans that make about seven stops at various locations between A-B Tech and Mission Hospital campus at 15-30 minute intervals. These shuttles have a basic cycle of stops; however, they will also stop for students flagging them down.

The shuttle goes from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. These hours may fluctuate as class days and times are evaluated. After evaluating traffic volume for the first two weeks of a semester, shuttles may begin later or end sooner on specific days. Appropriate announcements will be made if the schedule is changed.

If you have mobility needs, you can arrange a pick-up by calling (828) 398-7900, ext. 0.

City Bus Service

Asheville Redefines Transport (ART) provides bus service throughout the City of Asheville and to the Town of Black Mountain. These buses have 16 routes running from around 5:30 a.m. to about 10:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The ART Station is located at 49 Coxe Avenue in downtown Asheville (next to the U.S. Post Office). This office can provide you with the latest maps and schedules, help you with monthly or annual pass purchases, and answer any questions you  have about riding the bus in Asheville. This information can also be found at ridetheart.com.

A-B Tech students may purchase monthly bus passes for a discounted rate. More information about purchasing student bus passes can be found here.

The following ART routes serve the A-B Tech Asheville (Victoria Rd) campus:

Trailblazer - Option for Students Off the ART Bus Route

Trailblazer service, through Mountain Mobility, will connect students from several outlying areas to the ART routes. This service is available to anyone who wants to ride. Routes, instructions to sign up, and other information is available here on the Buncombe County website.

Paratransit Service

The City of Asheville partners with Mountain Mobility to provide paratransit service for people with disabilities, along all ART routes. More information about the services provided by Mountain Mobility can be found at: www.buncombecounty.org/governing/depts/transportation.

Shuttle to Mission Hospital

Mission Hospital operates a shuttle between the hospital and the parking lot just below A-B Tech's Sunnicrest Building (#11 on the campus map). As you go up the drive to Sunnicrest, this parking lot is on the left. It is Lot A-10 on the campus map. Mission calls it the "Dogwood Parking Lot." You can ask for details in the office that’s located in the parking lot.
