Overview

Career counseling is offered in the Bailey Student Services Building at no charge for students intending to take classes at A-B Tech. If you are under 18 years old, you are strongly encouraged to do a basic application to A-B Tech first, which you can do at abtech.edu/apply.

Career Services Appointments

To schedule an appointment, email careerservices@abtech.edu.

For the Résumé and Interview Workshops, be sure to bring a draft of your résumé and cover letter, as well as a flash drive to save any edits. We also have DVDs for resume writing.

Non-Students

  • Non-curriculum (Continuing Education) students or other members of the community can find career services through the STEP (Skills Training Employment Program) Career Resource Center (formerly known as “Job Club”), and it is a resource for job seekers! They are open to the public Monday–Thursday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

    The STEP Career Resource Center is a place for local job seekers can gain one-on-one assistance with their job search. Additional assistance is available with creating résumés/cover letters, practicing interviewing skills and completing online job applications.

    The STEP Career Resource Center is located in room ML08 of the Edington Center, at 133 Livingston Street in Asheville. No appointment is necessary. However, if you need to make an appointment, contact Cynthia Conboy at (828) 239-3559 for more information.

    Skills Training and Employment Program Flyer

  • If you are a Food and Nutrition Services recipient in Buncombe County and under the age of 60, the STEP program can help you find a job, get a better job, obtain skills training, or earn a GED at no cost to you. Information Sessions and Orientations are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. in the Buncombe County Health and Human Services building (Room N102 off the main lobby). The address is 40 Coxe Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

  • Madison County residents can contact our Madison County Career Center in the Ramsey Building at our Madison Site, at (828) 782-2632.

Job Board

We also have a Job Board which helps job seekers connect with employers from the community. Visit our Job Board webpage by scrolling over "Careers" at the top of abtech.edu and selecting "Job Board."
