Financial Aid for Part-Time Students

Financial Aid for Part-Time Students

Summary:

Financial aid available to students enrolled less than full-time

Overview

You do not have to be a full-time student to receive aid; however, the amount you qualify for will be reduced if you are less than full-time. As far as receiving financial aid goes, full-time status consists of taking 12 or more credit hours for receiving Pell Grants and 15 or more for most state grants. To be eligible for loans, you need to be enrolled at least half-time (six credits).

For more specific information about how much financial aid you'll receive if you attend less than full-time, please visit our Financial Aid Office in the Bailey Student Services Building or email them at financialaidoffice@abtech.edu.

Attending Two Schools at Once

If you'd like to enroll at both A-B Tech and another college at the same time, you may be able to combine the hours at both institutions for financial aid purposes. It's possible to receive financial aid under these circumstances as long as certain requirements are met.

To apply, you'll need to submit a Consortium Agreement form, which can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. This can be brought in to the Financial Aid Office in the Bailey Student Services Building, emailed to financialaidoffice@abtech.edu, or mailed to Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Attn. Financial Aid Office, 340 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801. If you email or mail documents to Financial Aid, please include the cover sheet, which you can download from the Financial Aid Forms and Resources section of our website.
