Financial Aid Refund Disbursements

Financial Aid Refund Disbursements

Summary

How and when financial aid refunds are disbursed

How Refunds Are Sent

A-B Tech has partnered with BankMobile to disburse financial aid refunds. After you've registered for classes, you will be sent an email with instructions for selecting how you would like to receive your refund.

Students have two options:
  1. Electronic Deposit to your personal checking or savings account. Refunds deposited with this option will take two–three additional business days to appear in your account.
  2. Electronic Deposit to a BankMobile Vibe account. This will occur the same day the refunds are disbursed. (Note: Fees are associated with those accounts.)

Follow these instructions to select your refund preference.
  1. Log in to Self-Service using your A-B Tech Microsoft Account.
  2. On the left, click Financial Information
  3. Under Student Finance, select Refund Setup
  4. Set up your profile to select how you want your money delivered
If you don't choose a refund option, the refund will be mailed in the form of a check no sooner than the 21st day after the disbursement.

For additional information, see BankMobile FAQs.

When Refunds Are Sent

Refunds are sent at varying times throughout the semester, depending on when your classes begin. Federal regulation prohibits the release of any money for a class that has not yet started. The Financial Aid Office will verify your attendance through the first 10 percent of the class before funds are released.

Financial Aid Disbursement Dates

The anticipated dates for Financial Aid disbursements can be found by visiting the Financial Aid Dates & Deadlines page and selecting the link for the correct semester.

Loan Disbursements

Loans will be disbursed in multiple payments for each semester, after you begin attending at least six credit hours that semester.

Refund Amount

If your financial aid refund is not what you expected:
  • It could be because of four-week or eight-week classes that have not started yet. You only have financial aid funds disbursed for the classes you're currently attending.
  • Your award letter amount is based on full-time enrollment. If you're enrolled less than full-time, your financial aid will be prorated.
