Writing Center Services

The tutors in the Writing Center can help you with planning, organizing, drafting, and revising papers and reports. The Writing Center can also help with resumés, scholarship letters, and other writing projects not associated with a specific class. It's a relaxed one-on-one session with an instructor or peer tutor.

Writing Center Location and Hours

The Writing Center is located in the Don C. Locke Library, Room 125 (#6 on the campus map). The hours are listed on the Writing Center main page.

To schedule an individual on-campus, remote, or RISE tutoring session, please schedule an appointment online at the Writing Center’s calendar or by calling (828) 398-7218. More information about these services can be found at the following link: Writing Center Services.

Currently there are no formalized on-demand hours. Students are welcome to check if there is an immediate appointment available, but we may not be able to accommodate it depending on demand on a given day.

Writing Center Online

You can also get online help from the Writing Center and communicate with a writing tutor by email. This online service is for students enrolled in online or hybrid (O or H section) courses. More information can be found on our website. From the abtech.edu homepage, click "Student Resources" at the top right, select "Writing Center", then select "Writing Center Services".

Online sessions are available 24/7, except on student and College holidays.

Tutoring Center

If you need help with basic English skills (grammar, usage, punctuation, and sentence structure), then you'll want to see the Tutoring Center (TC). The TC tutors can help you to improve your sentence skills and other fundamentals of clear writing.
