How to Find Your Advisor
There are several ways to find your assigned advisor.
- Visit abtech.edu/advising. Follow instructions there for consulting with your advisor, depending on your program of study.
- Login to Self-Service, select "Registration", and then "Schedule and Register." Your advisor (or advising department) will be listed at the top left. To open a blank email to your advisor, click on the email icon.
- Contact the Information Center at (828) 398-7900 or info@abtech.edu.
Types of Advisors
There are several main types of advisors. See abtech.edu/advising for details and contact information.
- Student Advisors can assist new and returning students with enrolling at A-B Tech. They provide pre-program advising for students interested in A-B Tech's Selective and Limited programs. In addition, Student Advisors can assist with English and math placement interpretation, declaring or changing a major, Student Success Seminar and assisting International students. They also speak with visiting students seeking prerequisite overrides.
- Transfer Program Advisors are available to assist students who are seeking to transfer from A-B Tech to another school, including students in the Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.), and Associate in Engineering (A.E.). More information is available at abtech.edu/transfer.
- Program/Faculty Advisors assist students who are enrolled in specific academic programs, most commonly with setting up Plans. Most students enrolled in a program of study have been assigned a specific program/faculty advisor.
Personal Counseling
A-B Tech also offers personal counseling. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please email supportservices@abtech.edu.
