Where to find 1098-T forms (tuition billed for previous tax year) and when they're available
Overview of the 1098-T Form
1098-T forms are IRS tax forms showing the tuition that was billed to you during the previous calendar year. This form can be used to help determine your eligibility for certain educational tax credits.
Billing Time Period
1098-T forms show when tuition was billed (not paid) during the previous tax year. For example, if you registered for spring 2017 classes in November or December 2016, these will not show up on your 1098-T form for 2017, since your tuition was billed in 2016.
When to View the Form
1098-T forms are posted to students' WebAdvisor accounts around the end of January each year. We don't send the form out by mail, but it can be printed from WebAdvisor.
How to View the Form
After logging in to WebAdvisor, click "Curriculum Students” then "View My 1098-T Forms” under the "Student Financial Info" heading. Before viewing or printing the form, you must first click “1098 Electronic Consent” in WebAdvisor to give your consent to view your forms electronically (if you haven’t already done so in past years). You only need to provide your electronic consent once.
The 1098-T form does not include Bookstore purchases, but the Bookstore can print out receipts for any past bookstore purchases made with financial aid funds. The bookstore does not have record of past purchases that were not made with financial aid funds. If you can't find a bookstore receipt from a past purchase, we recommend checking with your bank (if the payment was made by card or check) to see if they can provide documentation of the purchase.
Continuing Education Classes
Tuition billed or paid for Continuing Education classes is not included on the 1098-T form, since these classes are not tax-exempt. This applies to Nurse Aide 1 (CNA) classes.
If your 1098-T form doesn't show up in WebAdvisor by the end of January, or if you have any questions about the form, contact the Business Office at (828) 398-7152.
