Help with Deciding on a Program of Study

Help with Deciding on a Program of Study

Summary:

How to get help with deciding on what program of study (major) to select

If you can't decide what program of study (major) to take at A-B Tech, there are a few different avenues for assistance.

"Career Explorations" Sessions

We have a Career Development Services Department that offers free "Career Exploration" sessions to help students decide on a program of study. You can schedule an appointment by going to abtech.edu/careerscheduling. Before scheduling an appointment, you'll need to become a student at A-B Tech by completing an online application. These sessions are only available to current A-B Tech curriculum students or those who have applied to the College as a curriculum student, and who are at least 18 years old. For questions about Career Counseling, email careerservices@abtech.edu

"Career Coach" Online Tool

We have a great online tool called Career Coach that can help you explore different careers and see what A-B Tech programs are associated with specific career paths. Career Coach can be accessed at https://abtech.emsicareercoach.com.

Deciding Between Programs

If you have a couple of programs or a specific area of study in mind, but you can't decide which program to select, you may contact us at (828) 398-7900 or info@abtech.edu. Depending on your specific questions, we can connect you with an A-B Tech Recruiter who is knowledgeable about the program(s) you're interested in.

Transferring to A-B Tech from Another College

If you're transferring to A-B Tech from another college, and you're seeking to know how your previous credits will transfer into a program at A-B Tech, you should meet with an Academic Advisor in the Bailey Student Services Building (be sure to bring your college transcript). An Advisor will be in the best position to discuss your previous college credits and give you an idea about how your credits will transfer into a program at A-B Tech.
