Help with Deciding on a Program of Study

Help with Deciding on a Program of Study

Summary:

How to get help with deciding on what program of study (major) to select

If you can't decide what program of study (major) to take at A-B Tech, there are a few different avenues for assistance.

Meet With a Career Counselor

If you are at least 18 years old and have completed the basic application to A-B Tech, you are eligible to use our Career Services. You can email careerservices@abtech.edu to schedule an appointment for one-on-one career counseling. These appointments help students narrow their interests, assess their strengths and weaknesses, and evaluate the current job market to assist them in selecting a course of study.

"Career Coach" Online Tool

We have a great online tool called Career Coach that can help you explore different careers and see what A-B Tech programs are associated with specific career paths. Career Coach can be accessed at abtech.edu/careercoach.

Deciding Between Programs

If you have a couple of programs or a specific area of study in mind, but you can't decide which program to select, you may contact us at (828) 398-7900 or info@abtech.edu. Depending on your specific questions, we can connect you with an A-B Tech Recruiter who is knowledgeable about the program(s) you're interested in.

Transferring to A-B Tech from Another College

If you're transferring to A-B Tech from another college, and you're seeking to know how your previous credits will transfer into a program at A-B Tech, you should meet with an Academic Advisor in the Bailey Student Services Building (be sure to bring your college transcript). An Advisor will be in the best position to discuss your previous college credits and give you an idea about how your credits will transfer into a program at A-B Tech.
